Eye of the Storm
Witnessing and experiencing the uncertainty of climate change paralyzes me in a gaze filled with helplessness and despair - questioning what’s next. This artwork draws upon feelings associated with eco-grief and anxiety.
Description: Consisting of two integrated images, one captures toxic smoke spewing into the atmosphere following a local fire - the other focuses on plastic debris found in a dilapidated water feature in the courtyard of a small shopping mall. Glistening copper pennies strewn into the murky waters of this wishing well of sorts represents a pause for reflection on the indomitable optimism of human nature.
