Eye of the Storm

Witnessing and experiencing the uncertainty of climate change paralyzes me in a gaze filled with helplessness and despair - questioning what’s next. This artwork draws upon feelings associated with eco-grief, anxiety, environmental truths visibly seen and experienced versus climate change denialism. 

Description: Consisting of two integrated images metaphorically representing the anatomy of a large eye. One captures toxic smoke spewing into the atmosphere following a local fire - the other focuses on plastic debris found in a dilapidated water feature in the courtyard of a small shopping mall. Glistening copper pennies strewn into the murky waters of this grotesque wishing well of sorts represents a pause for reflection on struggling to find psychological equilibrium between watching our global home on fire, our air and water polluted, while ironically wishing for a lottery win to a better life.
