This short video teaser adapts still images from a body of work involving a project where I have documented aspects of my environmental surroundings - those representing native plants and florals as found in their natural habitats which I have cross referenced with images taken at one of several local landfills. Living in a quickly developing rural community growing pains become more acutely obvious as serene natural habitats disappear seemingly overnight. Within the context of the project intent the dichotomy of the two became a pause for reflection on Mason Cooley’s aphorism…”human society sustains itself by transforming nature into garbage”. The greater project involving over one hundred images dye sublimated onto textile is in the final stages of production.
