Moments Re-imagined

This ongoing project involves a series of digitally altered photographs that are often travel-related, conjuring personal memories of moment and place. I refer to the processing involved as ‘fotopainting’ as each image becomes the informational palette from which I re-create a new original. The work can be viewed as both a metaphor for inspiration and a narrative about memory.

Bits and pieces of a photographic image are digitally manipulated, replicated, re-sized, exaggerated, re-imagined, re-invented and re-assembled. The resulting image becomes an abstracted expression of a former moment, which not unlike memory itself can be a colorful distortion.
