Kaleidoscopic
This project involves notions of ‘essence’. Through re-assemblage of bits and pieces of photographs taken at particular moments - as though looking through a kaleidoscopic lens - I was exploring the concept of recollection and related visual associations. Would the composed kaleidoscopic abstractions provide an inherent essence of ordinary moments such as... glaring down at utility street markings while waiting for the street lights to change on intensely hot LA day, the delicate interwoven intersection of color and light on the hibiscus in my studio courtyard or the interplay of fleeting shadows on concrete ? What constitutes the details of memory?
