Flora

The Flora collection of tapestries pays homage to the magnificence of flowers and the multi-faceted role they play environmentally, medicinally and psychologically. It is also a visual narrative about the greater environment. We are often abstracted to the wonders of nature that surround us, oblivious to the reality that climate change will eventually alter the zones within which various flowers, plants and trees are able to grow, and that may be in our very own backyards.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder. This work involves digitally manipulating photographic images and enlarging them to a particular scale, so that when viewed at varying distances they oscillate between abstraction and representational imagery. The work endeavors to underscore the importance of being able to see the grander view, on what we stand to lose, with environmental inaction and degradation.
